Healthy Chinese Beef and Broccoli Recipe

Instructions

  1. Add water, vinegar, salt, and baking soda to the sliced beef. Mix very well until the beef absorbs the marinade.

  2. Add cornstarch and olive oil, then mix again until all the beef pieces are evenly coated. Set aside.

  3. Add all sauce ingredients to a bowl and mix very well until the cornstarch dissolves completely and there are no lumps.

  4. Bring a pot of water to a boil over high heat.

  5. Add the broccoli florets and cook for about 3 minutes only. The broccoli should be cooked but still have a slight bite and not be too soft.

  6. Drain the broccoli and set aside.

  7. Heat a pan or wok and add 1 tbsp olive oil.

  8. Cook the beef in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.

  9. Sear for about 2–3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

  10. In the same pan, add 1 tsp olive oil.

  11. Add the garlic and ginger and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

  12. Stir the sauce again before adding it to the pan to make sure the cornstarch is fully mixed.

  13. Add the sauce and cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until it thickens.

  14. Add the broccoli and cooked beef back into the pan.

  15. Toss everything together until well coated with the sauce.

  16. Let it cook for another 2–3 minutes until everything comes together. If the sauce becomes too thick, gradually add ¼–½ cup water until you reach your preferred consistency.
